| Subject: Emperor's Code of Honour Tue Jun 19, 2012 12:52 am | |
| This is a code of honour that all Emperor's must commit themselves to once they take the throne, those who do not stick to this honour bound contract can and will be deposed from the throne and replaced by the next available heir. This Code of Honour has been put in place by Fire Lord Zuko. This Code of Honour has been made public, and is contractually binding as of the Coronation Day of each Emperor.
1. All Emperors must only add to or improve the Nation, and can never detract from it unless it will improve the overall state of the nation.
2. All Emperors MUST leave a positive mark on the Nation, and must improve it in their own unique way, those who have no improved the well-being of the Nation, or have changed nothing by their 10th year of rule will be deposed.
3. All Emperors can only have but one official Empress, but may have a maximum of 3 additional wives as well as an Royal Harem of up to 20 concubines at one time if they so please, this however is not mandatory.
4. Upon an Emperor's death, he may not leave the Throne to anyone but the true blood heir of the Throne. Those who count as blood heirs are the eldest born son (or, if lacking, daughter) of the Emperor or the next closest blood relative. The Throne may not leave the Throne to an adoptive child or to one who is not of the official royal houses.
5. An Emperor MUST honour all bonds in ties made within the current rule and previous ones. An Emperor MUST not betray the bonds of honour, friendship or his word, such an Emperor is untrustworthy and disloyal and will be dethroned.
6. All Emperor's MUST only seek the betterment of the Empire's reputation and prestige. Any Emperor whose will and might seeks the opposite, either intentionally or otherwise will be dethroned.
7. An Emperor MUST seek the betterment of all his citizens, and not just a few. All classes and statures of people must be taken care of by the Emperor's might.
8. An Emperor may, if he so chooses, to ignore the children born of concubines, such children will not be Royal Princes or Royal Princesses by Fire Nation Law, and will have no such claim to the throne. However, the opposite is true, and if the Emperor chooses to acknowledge such children, they will be legally seen as Royal Heirs. However, when an Emperor chooses to ignore children born of concubines, he must see to it that the children and their mothers are treated properly and given the proper accommodations throughout life.
9. Many claim that an Emperor is subject to no one but the gods and justice. This however, is not true, an Emperor is subject to his subjects which he rules, and when the subjects become unhappy he must answer to their insatiable rage. No Emperor must become arrogant, arrogance is the end of all aristocracies.
10. Emperors may rule until death or until such time that their eldest son (or daughter in the absence of any sons) has reached the age of 20, at which point they may abdicate and allow their heir to take over.
11. All heirs to the Throne MUST serve for a minimum of 5 years in the ANY armed forces from ANY Nation. This includes: The Royal Armed Forces, The Earth Kingdom Armed Forces, The North and South Water Tribe Armed Forces, The Spirit King's Undead Samurai, The Air Kingdom Order of the Four Winds.
12. All Emperor's are entitled to the Imperial Regalia of Konoe, and shall be given them upon the day of their coronation. They are also entitled to personal regalia and artifacts as well. | |
